Land Acknowledgement:

We would like to acknowledge that Deer Hill Expedition Basecamp is located on the ancestral land of the Nuuchiu (Ute) people and upon the land which is also connected, both communally and ceremonially, to the Jicarilla Abache (Apache), Dine (Navajo), Hopi Sinom (Hopi), and New Mexico Pueblo peoples.***

Deer Hill would also like to acknowledge that our operations and programming throughout the Four Corners region traverse a vast landscape of native land that was seized by the United States government.  We want to recognize the original inhabitants of these areas that continue to steward and sustain deep connections to the Four Corners region.

*** Our land acknowledgment is based upon the work of our neighbors at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.  Please check out their web page for more information!

My Deer Hill experience was profound. Being able to connect not only with these diverse people but also with nature and most importantly myself is something I will always cherish. It truly changed my life, and I thank everyone at Deer Hill for making the experience so rich.
